[en] This project represents an intervention within a relatively limited budget on a house and consists of an extension and a mansard. The village is a typical hill settlement with scattered households, being located in a valley. The existing house is the last one of the village and is located on a hill slope on a relative height compared to the rest of the houses, in the northern extremity of the village. The existing house was a one level building constructed out of brick in the 70’s. The extension is marked on the west side of the house, by transforming one room into an entrance hall way. The concept of the intervention is keeping a clean shape for the house, keeping the dimensions and size similar to the traditional houses of the area and generating a contemporary image. From the traditional model we extracted the idea of repeated windows and we transposed it in the elongated windows of the new house, that allow optimal lighting from the sunrise, as well as in the large openings towards south that capture the view towards the valley. The plastic expression of the exterior consists of the integral cladding of the façade with fir wood from a local source. We relied on the natural aging of the wood that gives the exterior of the house an image similar to that of traditional houses.
[ro] Acest proiect reprezinta o interventie cu un buget relativ redus asupra unei case, presupunand extinderea si mansardarea acesteia. Satul este tipic localitatilor deluroase cu gospodarii rasfirate, fiind amplasat intr-o vale. Casa existenta este ultima casa din sat si este amplasata pe o coama de deal la o relativa inaltime fata de restul caselor, in extremitatea nordica a satului. Casa existenta a fost construita în anii 70 pe parter. Extinderea se realizeaza pe latura vestica, prin transformarea unei camere in hol de acces. Conceptul interventiei a presupus pastrarea unei forme de casa acurata, mentinerea unui gabarit similar cu casele traditionale din zona si generarea in paralel a unei imagini contemporane. Din modelul traditional am extras ideea de ferestre numeroase si am transpus-o in golurile alungite ale fatadei casei noi, care permit iluminarea optima dinspre rasarit, precum si în golurile mai mari dinspre sud care capteaza panorama catre vale. Plasticitatea exteriorului este rezolvata prin placarea integrala cu lemn de brad dintr-o sursa locala. Am mizat pe imbatranirea naturala a lemnului care confera exteriorului casei o imagine similara cu cea a caselor traditionale.
